Creating a blog for the Ironwood Kiwanis Club

Welcome! You have ventured out into cyberspace and low and behold, found the Ironwood Kiwanis Club's new blog spot! I welcome you to share ideas, use this forum as a method of staying in touch with the club. The goal is to increase communication to those of us who are busy people, may not have time to come to a meeting, but yet want to contribute to the community by being involved with our club & it's mission.

When I joined a 1 1/2 years ago, I joined because this club supports the youth of the area. There are many things that we do that I am proud of. Coming up soon is Santa's Workshop, where we set up at the memorial building and have a walk through store. Here you will find many donated toys, clothes & blankets are given to our community's residents that are struggling financially. The Kiwanis Peanut Drive took place the end of August. We raised about $4,000 that goes back into our community to fund grants & scholarships. Soon we will have another nut sale; deluxe nuts, cashews, bridge mix, pistachios will be for sale. Again, proceeds will go back into the community. These items make good xmas gifts! In the spring we will have our Annual Pancake Feed, where you find members skillfully flipping pancakes, wiping tables, and waiting tables! Such fun!

I am President Elect, so I am helping out our President, Kevin Nyquist, have a succesful year. I thought we'd try out this blog spot for members. Consider it a work in process. We'll see if we can have this catch on! How do you like this new method of communicating?

Hello from your fellow kiwanian. Thanks for setting this up. What I enjoy most about Kiwanis: Builder's club, volunteering at the renaissance faire at the ticket booth and the blood drives. I'm not great at the nut sales or peanut day--but I can write a check and eat the nuts all by myself.
What do others enjoy about being a kiwanian?

Greeeat idea...Thank you for your efforts...I have wanted to be a Kiwanian for a very long time. Years ago my daughter was diagnosed with diabetes and the club helped with the purchase of a beeper so she could play without me right next to her. This was a great benefit to Ashley, myself as well as the schools. I donated the beeper to the school when she was
done...I am honored to be in the company of this group ~ Kiwanis.

Nice job on the blog! My reason for being a Kiwanian is that it provides me the opportunity to support and be an active participant in community events. Kiwanis is involved in many projects, and the fellowship of the club members is another benefit!
